Charlotte Jefferson
is running for the 31st Councilmanic District in
Queens. Her experience in the public and private
sector, uniquely prepares for the providing competent
service to constituents of the 31st Councilmanic
District. Her platform:
Education - adequate classroom space for
children and teachers. Increase in teacher salaries,
after school programs; teacher qualifications and
performance standards. Youth development stressing
responsibility.
Quality of Life - New police headquarters
at the southern tip of the 105 Precinct, affordable
housing, improved sanitation pickups and cleanups,
replacement of fire boxes.
Economic Development - Development and improvement
of commercial districts.
A Fair Budget - Families must see more of
a return on their tax dollars in provision of services
by government. More capital development projects
that have a positive economic, employment, health
and transportation impact on communities.
Better Health Care - Education, outreach,
asthma, HIV & AIDS, hepatitis, high blood pressure
and mental health, lower prescription rates for
seniors.
Women and Girls - Equal pay, work opportunities,
domestic violence and rape.
Acting Director of the NYC Headstart Program, administered
a budget of $240 million and monitored the operation
of 119 Headstart Centers and staff of 600.
Human Resources Administration, policy development,
program planning for pregnant teens and child care
services.
Assistant Director of the NYS Division for Women
and Program Director of the Office Voluntary Services.
Field Director, NYS Anti Drug Abuse Community Demonstration
Project; Vice President of Federation of Laurelton
Block Associations, and Democratic District Leader
in the 29th AD.
