I am running for City Council in the 26th District because my life has been dedicated to public service and because I have proven that I know how to get positive results for my community.

As a prosecutor of violent felons in Queens, I understand that the top priority of everyone is to be safe on our streets, in our homes and in our schools. As a former schoolteacher, I know that more attention must be paid to the crisis in our overcrowded and understaffed schools. As a neighbor, I have seen firsthand what factories, major highways and new power plants are doing to the health of our seniors and children.

Therefore, if privileged to serve as your City Council Member, I plan to spearhead the expansion of the “Compstat” approach of the NYPD to a program called “CITISTAT”, a computerized system to improve the efficiency of all city services like pothole and streetlight repairs, sanitation and transportation. With today’s technology, city government can seek out and find the trouble spots in our neighborhoods and eliminate problems before they get too big.

I will fight for satellite police stations to better serve the areas of the districts far from the main precinct houses.

I will advocate the abolition of the Board of Education and use the savings from reduced bureaucracy to bring our teacher’s salaries up to par with those in the suburbs. I will be a much needed advocate to force the School Construction Authority to quickly build new desperately needed schools.

You can rest assured that as your Council Member, I won’t wait until it’s too late to fight the environmental polluters like the utility companies whose current expansion continues to destroy the health our neighbors.
