1. What is the most important issue in Council District 13 you would address if elected?

We need a voice for working people in the City Council. Special interests and corporate insiders have their people in the Council – it’s time to elect someone who will speak for working men and women.

I will fight for the quality of life in my district by improving schools, healthcare and senior services, and bringing a common sense approach to neighborhood development.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

Education: I want to reduce student/teacher ratios, and give teachers the resources they need to get the job done. I will fight to get critical state funds that have been unfairly denied to local schools – and I will use the City Council’s oversight powers to put those dollars directly into the classroom.

Overdevelopment: Huge box stores threaten to destroy mom-and-pop stores that some families have built for generations. And I will work to rezone our local middle class neighborhoods to protect us from out-of-control development.

Jobs & Economic Growth: I believe economic growth and job creation must be spread all across our City, not just around Manhattan. And I want to end NYC’s over-reliance on the financial services industry. Every time Wall Street sneezes, the rest of the City’s economy gets the flu.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

I’ve spent the past 35 years fighting for the rights of working people while raising my family in the Bronx and working for my community.

Those of us who built this city and keep it running must have a greater say in decisions that affect our lives than the bureaucrats.

I have the best experience, to bring people together to strengthen our community and protect the working men and women of the Bronx as our new City Council Member.
