| To be effective advocates,
elected officials must identify, articulate and
present the needs of their constituents persuasively
and effectually. Having their agendas accepted,
requires gaining the respect and support of fellow
legislators. Most importantly, a representative
must be trustworthy, assuring that allocated funds
are spent for appropriated purposes and in the interest
of all constituents. Having worked as legal counsel
to a City Council member who delivers, I will bring
that same aggressive, effective representation to
the 45th council district.
A lifelong resident of Flatbush, (the 42nd AD
Democratic club endorsed me) I will ensure that
Flatbush, East Flatbush and Flatlands receive
their fair share of resources. These communities
have not experienced the type of prosperity and
neighborhood revitalization evidenced in other
areas of Brooklyn during the recent economic boom.
My knowledge of the workings of the Council,
my credentials, skills, enthusiasm and commitment
have prepared me to provide the energetic, dynamic
leadership required for our community to flourish.
I will:
- create sanitation council
to assure cleaner streets
- address increased gang activity
to further reduce crime
- introduce legislation to
make the Board of Education more accountable
- support higher pay for teachers
- fund leisure programs for
the youth
- improve access to healthcare
- establish a Civic Center
for community-based programs to facilitate access
to existing services
- revitalize the commercial
sector by attracting quality stores to the area
- advocate for affordable housing
My District Office will be a resource center
for constituents; their concerns will be my concerns.
