I have lived in the 43rd District all my life and feel a deep connection to the neighborhoods where I grew up, married and raised my children. A practicing attorney for over 15 years, I have always made time for public service. Through two decades of community involvement, I know the people of my District and know what it needs to continue to be a safe and vibrant place to live and raise a family.

Over the years, I have demanded improved conditions in our schools, better subway and express bus service and cleaner streets and parks. I have provided tax and benefit assistance to senior citizens and was a leader in the fight to stop the conversion of our commercial avenues into one-way traffic and the plan’s disruption of our residential fabric. I vigorously opposed the construction of a garbage transfer station in our District and continue to oppose over-development that threatens the quality of life in our community.

The voters in the District recognize my dedication to our community. In 1997, I was proud to win the Democratic primary for City Council.

As Council member, I will continue to represent people by listening to them, using their ideas and talents and fighting for every dollar to improve our District. I will use my professional skills, knowledge of my community and city government, and experience - as a mother, teacher, lawyer, and community leader - to fight for the neighborhoods I have been proud to call home.
