Drawn to community
service by the plight of the homeless, Reiss worked
for four years at Community Access, where he developed
and managed housing programs for mentally ill homeless
people. Now an attorney, Reiss not only represents
some of the world’s leading companies, but also
government entities and some of the City’s most
progressive not-for-profits. He also volunteers
hundreds of hours of his time doing free legal work.
He has helped seniors draft wills and health care
proxies, he acts as counsel to minority- and women-owned
businesses, and he has represented tenants in housing
court and people with immigration concerns.
Reiss is running so that he can bring all of his
skills and experiences to bear in an effort to help
his community. He looks forward to “Building
Brooklyn For The Next 100 Years.” This means:
Building Affordable Housing - by reducing
red tape and increasing subsidies.
Building Better Schools - by constructing
more classrooms and encouraging competition among
public schools.
Building Modern Mass Transit - by investing
in the Second Avenue Subway and linking it to Brooklyn.
Building a More Responsive Democracy - by
increasing voter registration, improving poll worker
training and modernizing voting machines.
Building a Cleaner, Healthier and Greener Brooklyn
- by opposing attempts to dump on our community,
boosting funding to healthcare clinics and growing
our parks.
Building a Vibrant Local Economy - by supporting
development appropriate to our neighborhoods and
encouraging the diversification of our economic
base.
Building a Stronger Community - by addressing
the divides that exist in our community through
supporting youth and seniors programs, promoting
police-community dialogue and fighting discrimination
against the LGBTQ community.
A Brooklyn native, David is a firm believer in the
people and prospects of the 33rd District. That
is why he wants to be your City Council representative.
